Accommodation abroad

As soon as you’ve got your place to study abroad, contact your host institution for accommodation advice. They’ll most likely give you a variety of options, but you might have to organise everything yourself, so do your research early.

Ask what type and length of contract you’ll be tied into, and if bills and WiFi are included in the price.

Check on a map where you’ll be living in comparison to where you’ll be studying or working – and how you’ll get between the two. If you need to use public transport, there may be a student discount available.

If you’d like to speak to a student who’s stayed in the same country as you, ask your College Mobility Coordinator if they can put you in touch.

There are also agencies that can help you find accommodation overseas, including HousingAnywhere and Student.com.

Accommodation in Sheffield

You might need short-term accommodation in Sheffield for the time you’re studying at Hallam.

We provide one-semester accommodation in our halls of residence. Our offer releases you from your accommodation contract after Semester 1, so you can take up your semester abroad in Semester 2.

If you enter a private accommodation contract, it’s your responsibility to find someone to take over that contract when you head overseas.

Contact Accommodation Services for more information and advice.
