Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social Work

Social Work England (2020) Practice Placement Guidance explains the roles and responsibilities of Practice Educators 'to support safe and effective learning'.

The Social Work Reform Board made the decision that social work students should be assessed on placement by a practice educator who has met the learning outcomes set out in the Practice Educator Professional Standards. Please refer to the Practice BASW Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social Work (PEPS) 2020 (2019), which is hosted on the BASW website.

Expectations

There are several documents that set out the expectations and responsibilities of all those involved in the partnership between student nurses, clinical staff and Link Lecturers in the clinical education of student nurses.

The Placement Learning expectations documents set out the expectations of all those involved in supporting the placement learning of health and social work students, including the students, the placement provider staff, the university and people using the services where students are on placement.

Students are advised that they must follow their placement provider's policies and guidelines at all times while on placement.
