New sol-gel coatings fight corrosion and improve environmental friendliness
Researchers from Sheffield Hallam University’s Materials and Engineering Research Institute are developing a range of customised sol-gel coatings to be used on a range of products
Dr Daniel Loch
Daniel graduated from the Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, as Dipl.-Ing. (FH) in Mechatronics in 2009. After writing his diploma thesis on modulated pulse plasma technology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Technology (IST) in Braunschweig, Germany, he joined Sheffield Hallam University to work on the development of a novel pulsed plasma source. He was awarded the Joint SHU-Fraunhofer IST Research Centre Award in 2016.

Chris Sammon
I am a chemist with an interest in the design, characterisation and manufacture of polymer systems for a range of applications mainly at the interface with biology.
Molecular transport through PVOH nanocomposite films
The simultaneous ingress of acetone and water into dried PVOH-clay nanocomposites containing 2.5 wt% or 5 wt% of well dispersed Na-Cloisite, using FTIR-ATR, was compared with that into pure PVOH films
Spectroscopic characterisation of polymers and nanocomposites
We have a substantial range of different sampling accessories which, when used in conjunction with the state of the art infrared spectrometers, can provide valuable information about the material under investigation
Simulation case study - Sweden Posten
SP has been using computer simulation to address various operational issues for many years. Having invested in modern and automated equipment at sorting centres, Sweden Posten wanted to simulate all sorting centres in the country
Sheaf solutions training offer
Sheaf Solutions offers training courses ranging from basic concepts to advanced features of ARENA simulation software. Where necessary, these courses can be delivered at client’s premises
Human-Robot Interaction
CARR includes years of experience with direct ('in-the-field') human robot interaction as well as assistive robotics and robotic machines and aids in dangerous or low-visibility conditions
