Moving to university for the first time ever can feel amazing, however it can also be normal if those last-minute nerves are starting to kick in. Here are some tips that helped me when I first started at Hallam.
Don't be afraid to ask for support or help
From day one at university, you will be given a great deal of new information, however there is plenty of help and support available at Sheffield Hallam. Also, starting uni feels new and different compared to sixth form or college life.
Hallam provides support for any problems or concerns that arise from the very first day that you start your course.
Make sure you're well-informed about your course
It gives you an insight into life at university and helps you become used to the new environment at Hallam.
You can stay up-to-date with information about starting uni through the Welcome webpages, which is also where you’ll find info on Welcome Week events, your university email, which you’ll get as part of your online enrolment just before you start your course, and the MyHallam student help pages once you’ve enrolled.
Enjoy your new transition to university
It is just as important to give yourself the social time you deserve, keeping the balance between study and your social life. This could be through getting to know your flatmates or coursemates better or joining as many societies as you like! Also, there are lots of social activities via the Students’ Union, for example there are volunteering/job opportunities, events and trips you can get involved with.
Hope you found my tips helpful!
