Learn Inkscape for Vector Graphics and Digital Illustration

We use graphics and illustrations for many different purposes, from designing a company logo to creating eye-catching posters or digital artwork. Unlike photos, illustrations often need to be scaled to any size without losing quality — from a business card to a billboard.

What is Inkscape

Inkscape is a powerful, open-source tool for creating and editing vector graphics, and it can be used for everything from simple shapes and icons to detailed illustrations and professional design projects.

Access Inkscape

You can access Inkscape online — it’s free and open-source, so you don’t need to buy anything:

Download and install (most common):

1. Go to the official website: https://inkscape.org

2. Choose your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux) and download the installer.

3. Run the installer and open Inkscape like any other program.

LinkedIn Learning courses

The Inkscape Essential Training course introduces the basics of working with vector graphics in Inkscape. You’ll learn how to create and edit shapes, draw with the Pen and Bezier tools, work with colour and gradients, use layers, and apply essential features to design clean, scalable, and visually striking illustrations.
