Case Study 3

This is an example of adjustments in practice, which could help contextualise some of the suggested adjustments included in the resource.

Samad has Dyslexia. He has a learning contract for university work and receives Disabled Student Allowance. He finds it takes him longer to read information and can struggle to read and break down blocks of text.

He finds his spelling and grammar is impacted by his Dyslexia. He finds Grammarly useful for his work, along with the Read Aloud feature in Microsoft Office.  He also uses screen tinting software, and prints out any handouts on yellow paper, which helps him to read.

Prior to starting his placement, Samad requested that he have access to this software, and the placement coordinator and placement provider helped Samad to arrange this.
