Reading, writing and recording

Reading, writing and recording can be essential parts of a placement.  Being able to understand instructions and information, communicate effectively and professionally and record and reflect on work can all be very important contributors to a successful placement.  The following adjustments could be helpful to consider or request:

  • Extra time to write up notes etc.
  • Access to a quiet area to work in for note writing and reading.
  • Notes read for content and ideas rather than spelling and grammar (where possible, considering competency standards).
  • Access to Assistive Technology or alternative formats (such as hard copies).
  • Recording meetings to aid with notetaking, (when local policies around confidentiality allow).
