Travel considerations

Travel requirements between home and placement can be a very important factor in deciding if a placement will be appropriate for a student.  The support needs and potential barriers that travel can create need to be considered and agreed upon. Here are some examples of potential adjustments and considerations which can be discussed and agreed upon before the placement starts:

  • Eligibility for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) to help with the costs of extra travel to attend placement because of disability. • General funding available for your placement, which may include travel, for example the Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE)
