This is an example of adjustments in practice, which could help contextualise some of the suggested adjustments included in the resource.
Ashley has cerebral palsy and experiences weakness in their right arm and leg. Ashley also experiences chronic pain and fatigue.
Their placement was arranged so that Ashley had a lift- serviced location. Ashley uses dictation software, so the placement was arranged so that Ashley could dictate their notes onto a laptop instead of handwriting them.
Ashley had a personalised evacuation plan, so they had assistance to leave the building in case there was a fire alarm.
For a part of their placement, Ashley would be shadowing someone in a laboratory setting and needed to wear a lab coat and goggles. Ashley required support to put the lab coat on, so it was agreed that their colleague could assist with this.
Ashley wanted to have a closer location for their placement to allow for their morning physio/exercises. This was unfortunately not possible so a later start and finish time was agreed.
